'Not understanding the hate' - Chelsea fans fume over defeat to Bristol Rovers in EFL Trophy

Bristol Rovers seemingly heaped more misery on Chelsea fans in last night's 2-1 victory over their development side.

The Gas ran out 2-1 winners in the EFL Trophy, coming from behind to take three points thanks to goals from Victor Adeboyejo and Liam Sercombe.

Whilst Rovers fans are fairly apathetic about the competition, with many continuing to boycott it due to the inclusion of Premier League development sides, a quick glance at social media suggests that Chelsea fans are fairly invested in how their under-21s do.

With their senior side going through some patchy fans, Chelsea fans bemoaned the defeat of their development team.

Pride of London: Only Chelsea youth can be 1-0 up and lose 2-1.

Max Wright: Glad to see the development squad is on par with our main team.

Blueblooded: Now it's only the women's team I trust!

CFC Addicted: We're losing at all levels.

Robert Heath: Not understanding the hate. Chelsea's developmental side, made of youth players lose to a League One team with seasoned professionals. Not like it's another youth team.

Josh Brown: This team did reach the semis two years ago. I would have expected better than this.

Moinul: I swear we were supposed to be unbeaten in the league? How do we lose to a League One team?

Rovers fans, meanwhile, were pleased to see their side's good form continue, particularly with a number of fringe players getting some vital minutes.

Daniel Sheppard: Everyone commenting thinking Chelsea genuinely should’ve beaten League One opposition is mad, especially if you watched the game. Up the Gas.

Jack Taylor: Nice run out for the fringe players.

Cameron McArdle-Kelly: Announce Championship fixtures for next year please.

Tom Butler: Well done Rovers, another win, keep ticking them over.

Mike: Loving Graham Coughlan's attitude, think he will do us good.
