Not the best conference? Two Tweets show SEC’s dominance in 2019

Some skeptics think that Clemson’s National Championship blowout win vs. Alabama provides evidence the SEC is no longer the best top to bottom conference in the nation. Alabama has been carrying the conference for much of the past decade for good reason: they get the best recruits and win the most of any team in recent college football history.

Georgia is giving Alabama some in conference competition for the best recruits in the southeast. In fact, Georgia signed the top two recruits, C Clay Webb and WR George Pickens, from the state of Alabama in the class of 2019. This came at a cost though, with the Dawgs not being quite as successful in their home state, where many more elite recruits left in comparison 2018’s historical class. Despite this, Georgia secured a top 3 class according to most.

Along with Georgia, the rest of the SEC had another dominant recruiting cycle that no other conference in the country can match:

With 11 classes in the top 25, the SEC dominated the 2019 recruiting cycle. The best players don’t go to the best conference without reason. The SEC also sends the most players to the NFL of any conference. One key indicator of how many will be drafted in 2019 is the number of players invited to the combine:

More than a quarter of all 338 players invited to the combine hailed from the SEC, with Georgia having the T-2nd most in the conference behind Alabama. The consistent NFL production and success helps SEC coaches secure the best recruits, which continues the SEC’s cycle of dominance.
