Fred Thompson isn't really running for the Republican presidential nomination, more like kind of ambling. Will he even make it to the Iowa caucus in January?
At a Republican party state convention in Florida on Sunday, Thompson again made people wonder if he really wants the job. The National Journal reported:
After beginning with a few jokes, Thompson spoke for roughly 5 minutes - less than half the time taken up by his opponents - before abruptly thanking the crowd, and walking the wrong way off the stage.
The New York Times, which clocked Thompson at four minutes, spoke to a Republican voter in the audience:
I was really kind of shocked," said Linda Hoffman, 47, who wore stickers for all the candidates on her blazer, reflecting her indecision. "We were all hoping he would say something we could get behind, but there was nothing."
Bloggers aren't happy either. Over at Red State, Erick Erickson has some plain speaking advice for Thompson:
People are getting the impression that you don't want the job at all, or at least you seem that way. You're not even trying Fred. And if you think you are trying and that's your best effort, then get on out of the race because you're starting to waste our time.
Out before Iowa - you heard it here first.
