Not long now! First ever Greggs drive-thru in the North East nears completion

It won't be long now before people will be able to grab a sausage roll or steak bake on the go from the North East's first Greggs drive-thru.

Work to build the restaurant at Tyneside Autoparc, off the A1056 Sandy Lane, North Gosforth, Newcastle, is going well. 

A Greggs spokesperson has confirmed the branch is scheduled to open in mid-July.

The video above shows just how much progress has been made at the site.

The main building has been constructed and Greggs signs have been put up - the distinctive four yellow squares on the blue background.

The store, which is expected to create around 15 jobs, will offer customers a range of hot and cold sandwiches, as well as soups and freshly baked savouries including normal and vegan sausage rolls. Both cold and hot drinks will be available.

It will also be possible to walk in and order. Seating will be provided for customers who wish to enjoy their purchases inside the shop.

The overall development at the site, led by The Kay Group, also includes a new petrol service station, car wash and Spar convenience store.
