Even thinking of mathematics gives most students stress, but if preparations are sound the subject can be handled with ease. Students are advised to go through all the resources provided by schools during online classes, may that be worksheets, formula sheets or YouTube links. Keep a positive mindset and tell yourself that you are prepared and you know everything.
For maths 1, students should prepare notes of the formulae and important points and revise them, as many sums are based on them. By solving previous years’ question papers you will get a morale boost, as well as an idea about the type of questions to expect.
Time yourself while you solve the practice paper to assess your time management. Do not rely on reading the solved problems, make sure you have writing practice too. Solved examples and exercise sums from the textbook should be practised thoroughly. The reduced syllabus this year is an added advantage.
In the chapter ‘Equations in one variable’, the determinant Dx should be found carefully as a lot of mistakes happen there. While solving it graphically, students are expected to write the scale measures clearly. In ‘Quadratic equations’, students should practise all methods of solving the equations.
‘Arithmetic progressions’ is a modest chapter. Students should keep in mind that the common difference d can be positive or negative. Also remember that probability can never be greater than 1 and that the sum of all probabilities is 1.
