'Not interesting' - Thomas Tuchel makes title claim before Liverpool take advantage of Chelsea slip

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said he is not interested in the title race after his side’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham United

Despite twice taking the lead at the London Stadium, errors from Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy allowed West Ham to secure a comeback victory.

Liverpool took advantage of the result to move about Tuchel's team into top spot with a last-gasp win at Wolves.

But then Manchester City moved above Liverpool into pole position with a 3-1 victory at Watford that also saw Chelsea slip to third.

When asked about the title race following the defeat to the Hammers, Tuchel insisted he was more focused on individual matches.

"The race is not interesting at the moment,” the Chelsea manager said in his post-match press conference .

“What is interesting is always the next 90 minutes and what is interesting is to have the focus right, the attitude right, and to take care about the details.

“We are not good enough on the details at the moment. We do too many big mistakes and have to care about the details.

“There is no need to ask questions or start doubting about the big picture.”

After being the early pacesetters in the Premier League, Chelsea appear to have hit a blip in form.

Alongside their loss this weekend, the west London side have now dropped seven points across their last five league games.

Tuchel also admitted that both Marcos Alonso and Kai Havertz were substituted through injury, adding to the growing number of players currently sidelined at the club.

Though results have seen Chelsea lose their lead on both Liverpool and City , the German coach rejected the suggestion that they are performing below their earlier levels.

"I didn't see our performance dip against Man United or today,” he said.

“I think the performance is enough to even win the game but what we clearly see is we give easy goals away and this is very unusual.

“We make big mistakes that lead to big chances that lead to easy goals. We do this now in three matchdays against Man United, Watford and again today.

“If you do this at this kind of level, you can't expect to have a result."
