'Not in a million years' - Liverpool fans all say same thing about Gini Wijnaldum exit claim

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to hit back at claims made by Gini Wijnaldum who insists he "didn't feel love" from some sections of the fanbase during his final two years at the club.

Wijnaldum joined PSG this summer on the expiration of his contract, after failing to agree a new deal with the Reds.

In an interview with The Times, the midfielder stated that the abuse through social media made his final years at Anfield hard.

“Liverpool meant so much to me. There were some moments when I didn’t feel love and appreciated there.

“Not by my teammates, not the people at Melwood. I know they all loved me and I loved them. It was not from that side, more from the other side."

He added: "There was a moment when I didn’t feel loved. In the last two seasons, I had it a few times.

"The media didn’t help. There was a story like I didn’t accept the [Liverpool] offer because I wanted more money, and the fans made it like ‘OK, he didn’t get the offer so he doesn’t try his best to win games.’ Everything looked like it was against me.

"Some moments it was like, ‘Wow, me again?’"

But fans seem to be divided on the validity of Wijnaldum's comments, with some believing it is a smokescreen for the actual reason he left Anfield.
