'Not his usual self' - Bristol City player ratings as Robins lose to Swansea City

Daniel Bentley - 7

Too easily beaten by Gallagher's long-range effort that clipped the post. Great save to tip an Ayew lob just past the post in the first half though.

Zak Vyner - 8

Great first half as he made several impressive interceptions to help the visitors counter and break up the pitch. Did well in duels against Bidwell and Brewster too, with one impressive sliding tackle dispossessing the Liverpool man.

Tomas Kalas - 7

Stationed to the left of the back three and encouraged to get forward in the second half with one run leading to a good Weimann chance. Played several good passes down his flank and won several important duels with Ayew.

Ashley Williams - 6

Was rarely troubled by the pacy Brewster or Gallagher and bossed anything in the air. Did well to win the ball on the edge of his own box from Gallagher in the second half. Came off after an hour as City reorganised and looked for an equaliser.

Jack Hunt - 6

Taken off at the break with Pereira joining the game, and was most notable for several good crosses, but wasn't aggressive enough in his pressing or tackles to dominate his flank.

Korey Smith - 7

Another good game from the Robins captain who almost found Afobe with terrific long pass in the first half, before shooting over the bar himself just after the break. Plenty of snap from the club stalwart, as per usual.

Jamie Paterson - 6

Played deeper than he has of late and it suited him. Had more time to collect the ball, twist, turn and dictate play. Several shots were blocked, and he wasn't able to create as he has done in recent weeks.

Andi Weimann - 7

The Austrian had several efforts in the box but all were blocked, but his runs from deep caused the home side plenty of problems in the first half.

Jay Dasilva - 6

A couple of stray passes put his side in trouble in the first half though there were several customary raids forward. Not at this best and taken off in the second period for Eliasson.

Nahki Wells of Bristol City. (Rogan/JMP)

Nahki Wells - 6

Not his day in front of goal as he met several crosses in the box but was unable to convert either Weimann's second half cross or Dasilva''s first. Taken off late on after a hard-working stint, and was also caught by Cabango late on and it could have led to a dismissal if seen by the officials.

Benik Afobe - 5

Some lovely movement early on almost got the striker in on goal, but as Weimann played him in he was flagged offside. Often made the same run in the box as wells did and the partnership didn't look right. Had little service to be fair.

Substitutes

Pedro Pereira - 6

Replaced Hunt at the break and went close with a header late on, though didn't have much impact otherwise.

Famara Diedhiou of Bristol City fails to score from the penalty spot. (Rogan/JMP)

Famara Diedhiou - 4

Came on in the second half and missed a penalty, won himself as he was dragged down in the box trying to meet an Eliasson cross. Hit the post.

Niclas Eliasson - 6

Sent in several decent crosses though lost the ball too often and failed to deliver when most needed in the final acts of the game.

Kasey Palmer - 6

It was encouraging to see the playmaker return, though he looked a little rusty and tried a little too hard to get City moving forward. His good passing range was evident however.

Marley Watkins - n/a

Given the final few minutes as he replaced Wells.
