'Not here to make up the numbers' Leeds United fans weigh in on Illan Meslier's arrival

Leeds United unveiled their first deadline day signing earlier today when they announced the capture of French under-20 international goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a one-year loan deal.

The 19-year-old, who has spent his career to date with Lorient, makes the move to Elland Road as Marcelo Bielsa's latest recruit across a busy summer, as an effective like-for-like replacement for the departed Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The Whites are still tipped to make some movement in the transfer market during the final few hours of the summer window, but Meslier brings with him some much-needed senior experience to compliment Kiko Casilla as a back-up option for the club on the bench, alongside academy starlets Will Huffer and Kamil Miazek.

He becomes the latest in a line of temporary recruits, joining Ben White and Jack Clarke in penning loan moves until the end of the season, though Helder Cotsa's deal will see him become a permanent face at the end of the 2019-20 season.

Fans have been weighing in on the arrival of the shotstopper since his move was confirmed, with reaction across the board ranging from optimism to hope that the Frenchman can fill the void left by Peacock-Farrell, among others. Here's what they've been saying...
