'Not exactly sure' - Arsenal fans split on latest transfer rumours as Mikel Arteta seeks reunion

Some Arsenal supporters are divided on the club apparently wanting to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool in January.

According to a recent report from The Sun, the north London club are considering making a loan move for the 28-year-old, who left the Gunners over four years ago to move to the Reds.

Oxlade-Chamberlain spent six years at the Emirates Stadium after being signed by Arsene Wenger in 2011 and is now into the final two years of his contract with Liverpool - where he has fallen down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.

The English midfielder has struggled with injury problems throughout his time at Anfield, something that has really dragged him back from being a top player on Merseyside.

Similarly, during his time at Arsenal, Oxlade-Chamberlain was severely impacted by injury issues - something that still worries Gunners supporters.

Taking to Reddit to discuss the club's recent links with the Liverpool midfielder, Arsenal fans are split down the middle in whether they approve of a six-month loan deal for Oxlade-Chamberlain in January, as Mikel Arteta eyes a reunion with his former team-mate.

Arteta's glowing praise of Oxlade-Chamberlain from 2020 speaks volumes about his clear admiration for the energetic midfielder.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's clash with Liverpool last year, the Gunners manager said: "We could all see the potential of Alex and where he could develop.

"He picked an incredible club to move to and he wanted a challenge probably after so many years here. We have to accept that and I think we all wish him the best because as well as being a great player.

"I think he was someone who was really, really liked here among the fans, the staff and the players."

Oxlade-Chamberlain has started just once in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season, despite Klopp insisting he still has a future with the club towards the end of last season.

The Reds boss said: "The summer is important for all of us, and for Ox it's exactly the same.

"When you do not start games, then you have to use each training session and each minute on the pitch to convince. I do not have to be convinced, to be honest, but it is about showing up in these kind of situations.

"Oxlade had really good moments. He trains really well. These situations are not easy; for Naby [Keita] it is not easy, for Shaq [Xherdan Shaqiri] it is not easy, for some other players as well. I know that.

“But during the season, a lot of things happened. The one thing we tried to get, and when we got it we tried to keep it, was balance and rhythm, stability. That means that you don’t change these positions too often. That’s it, pretty much."
