Not all heroes wear capes. Some eat cakes - 102 of them, in three minutes

A charity worker scoffed a gut-busting 102 Jaffa Cakes in just three minutes during an eating competition - smashing his own personal best of 88 and setting a new 'world record'.

Max Stanford, aka Max vs Food, gobbled two of the chocolate-covered cakes at a time and washed them down with pints of warm water.

The 35-year-old tackled the super-sugary feat on February 3rd, managing to beat his own record of 88 last year.

The competitive eater easily out-scoffed the others with second place in the challenge going to Food and the Beast with a total of 66 Jaffa Cakes.

Third place went to Kyle V Food who managed 64, while 4th went to Tunnysvsfood with 50.

Max easily polished off the belly-busting 4,692-calorie snack - containing more than double the recommended daily calorie intake of 2,000 calories for women at The George Pub & Grill in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham.

This victory comes hot off the heels of his previous win, where he gobbled down a gut-busting 1kg of Frosties in just six minutes.

Max, from Brixton, south west London, said: "It went very, very well, I surprised myself. I beat my record from last year of 88.

"It wasn't too bad eating that many. My tactic was eating and then using a lot of water and getting into a rhythm.

"Live events are so much better. I did a lot better because of that, with people cheering and you get to see the other competitors as well."

"I really do like Jaffa Cakes. I've got some left over that I'll have with a cup of tea later."

Founder of British Eating League Craig Harker said: "What an event and what a start to the season with the first in-person eating contest."
