'Not all heroes wear capes': Manchester builders hailed legends for helping family of geese cross the street

They say not all heroes wear capes - and it's true, this pair were in high vis.

This is the adorable moment two builders stopped traffic in Manchester city centre to help a family of geese cross the road safely.

Their heartwarming good deed was captured on camera and shows the men carefully escorting the gaggle - made up of two adults and four tiny goslings - across the busy Deansgate.

Bonita Cliff, events manager at The Comedy Store in Manchester, shared the footage on the club's Facebook page after spotting the builders on Friday afternoon.

"They were being absolute heroes," she said.

"They were really unassuming and it was so sweet to see.

"I was out walking my dog at the time, it was around 2pm, and I'd seen the builders near the shop.

"The geese were near and everyone was cooing over them - my dog just wanted to play with them so we crossed the street.

"I turned back to check the geese were okay and I saw the two builders stood in the road stopping traffic to help them cross.

"It was such a lovely thing to see."

Bonita is now hoping to find the men so she can offer them free tickets to The Comedy Store as a thank you for their kindness.

She added: "Not all heroes wear capes and I want to find them and say thank you and give them the recognition they deserve.
