'Not all heroes wear capes' - Edinburgh woman leaves heartwarming message for refuse collectors

An Edinburgh woman has shared the heartwarming message she left for hard working refuse collectors.

@KarenEmbra posted a photo on Twitter sharing the thank you message she had left for those collecting rubbish.

The message, which she plastered onto a bin, read: "Thank you to all refuse collectors."

She posted the photo on Twitter saying: "Not all heroes wear capes. Some empty bins".

Edinburgh Council has changed the way waste is collected in the city due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The council said staff shortages meant they were prioritising "key services" due to staff shortages and the need to observe social distancing measures.

It has previously said all recycling centres would close and glass recycling would no longer be collected.

Now it has been announced that from Tuesday 7 April, all garden waste collections will be suspended until further notice.

Trade unions in Scotland had previously called for increased protection for front line council staff.
