'Not again' - Arsenal fans fume at Premier League after 2020/21 fixtures confirmed

Arsenal supporters have finally discovered their 2020/21 Premier League fixtures, after the full scheduled was confirmed on Thursday.

Mikel Arteta's side will be desperate to improve on last season after finishing eighth, and challenge once again for the top four.

And their quest for Champions League qualification begins against newly-promoted Fulham on the opening weekend of the season.

The Gunners' first home match comes a week later in the first London derby of the season against West Ham United.

Despite a relatively kind first two games on paper, Arsenal's fixtures take a turn for the worse afterwards.

A daunting trip to Premier League champions Liverpool follows, and Mikel Arteta's side also face Manchester City, Leicester City and Manchester United before the end of October.

Previous trips to Anfield early in the season have not ended well for Arsenal, with a 3-1 defeat in August 2019 the most recent result.

Two seasons before, Arsene Wenger's side were beaten 4-0 on Merseyside with goals from Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge.

This season's early clash at Anfield marks yet another season that the Gunners have to play against the Reds in the first month of a campaign, and some supporters were quick to point out the pattern emerging.

Despite finishing the previous season in impressive style and winning the FA Cup final against Chelsea, Arsenal boss Arteta has warned his players that they cannot rest on their laurels.

"I have to look at the players, how they come back from holidays, how they come after winning. I want to see that reaction," he told Arsenal Digital.

"You know, are they going to be a little more relaxed because we've done something or are they going to come with, 'okay, this is nothing that we've done. We have to go to the next level, we have to apply ourselves better, we have to improve in a lot of areas and we have to dominate many other aspects of the game that at the moment we cannot control?'

"If that is the mindset, then I am very positive that we will be sitting here in a year's time really happy.

"But I hope we take that road straight away."
