You guys, this is not a drill: Anna Faris and Regina Hall are confirmed to be reuniting for the upcoming reboot of Scary Movie — written, of course, by the Wayans brothers.
Yep, the stupidest franchise to ever hit screens is about to get even stupider, with an additional instalment in the Scary Movie universe officially in the works and slated for a 2026 release.
It will mark the sixth addition to the franchise, and comes well over a decade after the last one had us cackling back in 2013.
What’s more, the Wayans brothers — Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Ivory — are all on board for the script, so we can rest assured that their parody pen game has remained razor-sharp.
To top it all off, Faris and Hall — whose roles as Cindy and Brenda in the first four films still live in pop culture infamy — are both returning for the upcoming reboot, with Marlon confirming that news in an Instagram Post earlier today.
“SM6”, Marlon, who also plays Shorty Meeks in the franchise, wrote alongside an image of the duo.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” Faris and Hall said in a statement, as reported by Variety.
We don’t yet know the extent of Faris and Hall’s roles in the reboot, with plot details so far being kept under wraps, but we can hazard a guess that there’ll be plenty of slapstick, cringe gags, and hopefully a reprise of Cindy’s iconic “what are you waiting for?!” moment.
Scary Movie 6 will be directed by Michael Tiddes.
If you’re unfamiliar with the franchise, know that despite its title, Scary Movie is far from scary, and instead spoofs popular horror movies for a mish-mash of genre tropes that has taken aim at everything from Scream to The Shining to The Blair Witch Project.
The franchise’s particular brand of comedy means that some moments have aged like milk, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Wayans, Faris and Hall revive the Scary Movie universe when it lands next year.
As for the other horror movies it will parody, there’s ample material to draw from in recent years. My bet’s on some kind of Midsommar reference, a Conjuring callback, and maybe a little It for extra measure.
