'Not a chance' - Arsenal told to forget about appointing Brendan Rodgers as their next manager

Joe Cole believes there is no chance that Brendan Rodgers will leave Leicester for Arsenal.

Rodgers is one of the leading contenders to replace Unai Emery, who was sacked by the Gunners on Friday morning, with Freddie Ljungberg placed in temporary charge while a permanent replacement is sought.

But despite the speculation linking the former Liverpool manager with the role, Cole believes the Gunners can forget about appointing the Northern Irishman.

“For me Arsenal needs a Brendan Rodgers, but there is no way Brendan Rodgers is going to Arsenal,” the former Chelsea man told BT Sport.

“There is no way Leicester are letting him go and there is no way he is looking at that team and thinking you are better than what I have got here. Not a chance."

Before Cole blasted the club’s board for their part in Arsenal’s regression over the past couple of years. He said: “That sums up the club over the last 10 years.

“You talk about the owners, you have got three or four owners all over the place, with different agendas, communication with the fans is none existent.

“The fact you have so many different candidates for the job.  After Thursday they probably thought we will have to do something.

“But now, you are in a bad position because all of them owners have got to get together. They have got to agree on philosophy, style and a type of manager.”
