Nostalgic billboards transform city centre square for filming

This was the scene in Liverpool's Exchange Flags yesterday as film crews were set to start shooting in the city.

Billboards were erected in the square behind the Town Hall with old-style adverts for Cadburys chocolate and "all-star matinees" at "the Queen Mary II Theatre."

Filming came to a halt in Liverpool earlier this year when the country was put into the first national lockdown.

But when restrictions started to ease in the summer, camera crews returned to Liverpool to resume filming for upcoming projects.

This included the new Batman movie which saw Liverpool transformed into Gotham City in October.

Robert Pattinson was spotted in the city centre for filming and fans were left exhilarated at the sight of a stuntman dressed in a full Batman costume stood at the top of the Liver Building.

While it's unclear what these nostalgic posters were providing the backdrop for, it shows that Liverpool continues to be a sought after location for filming.
