Norwich star's Rangers 'signing' dream revealed as he mocks Celtic

Norwich City star Kenny McLean has admitted he would love to play for Rangers one day, as he gets set for a return to the Premier League.

The Canaries are back in the top flight after winning last season's Championship title, and McLean insists he's solely focused on that.

But he told The Athletic that he would relish the chance to play for his boyhood heroes, while poking a bit of fun at their rivals Celtic.

Rangers were heavily linked with a move for McLean, and boss Steven Gerrard admits he's an admirer of the 29-year-old. He was released from the Ibrox club's youth academy before joining St Mirren in 2008.

McLean, from Cambuslang, who is recovering from a knee ligament injury that kept him out of Euro 2020, said: "I'd be lying if I said it wasn't something I'd want to do.

"As a kid that's what you want to do, play for your boyhood team.

"Right now, I'm about to play in the Premier League again, so I'm not even thinking about it!

"But for me and my family it would be pretty special.

"I grew up a Rangers fan, used to go to the games with my dad, and as a kid in Glasgow you support Rangers or Celtic, and you want to play for one of them.

"So, I was on the better side!"
