Norwich rising star Akin Famewo seals St Mirren switch as Jim Goodwin's transfer push continues at pace

St Mirren have agreed a deal to sign Akin Famewo on-loan from Norwich City for the season.

The Buddies completed the double signing of Conor McCarthy from Cork City and Jamie McGrath from Dundalk but are on the hunt for more additions.

Jim Goodwin has now also thrashed out a deal to take young central defender Famewo to St Mirren.

The 21-year-old travelled to Paisley  on Tuesday night to finalise his move from the Premier League strugglers.

Famewo is yet to make a top-team appearance for the Canaries although he is highly thought of and was recently on the bench for the Premiership game with Aston Villa.

He has recently signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with the Carrow Road outfit.

The commanding centre half is also the captain of Norwich’s under-23 team and has also previously had top team exposure on-loan at Grimsby Town.

St Mirren were short of defensive options as Sean McLoughlin returned to Hull City and both Kirk Broadfoot and Gary Mackenzie are both coming back from injuries.
