Norwich prepared for team selection gamble in Manchester United fixture

Norwich manager Daniel Farke has hinted young striker Adam Idah could feature against Manchester United this weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side host bottom side Norwich at Old Trafford on Saturday as they look to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Man City.

Norwich know an unlikely victory this weekend could be the catalyst for a great escape from the Premier League relegation zone, but they will have to do so without leading scorer Teemu Pukki, who is injured.

The Canaries made eight changes as they defeated Preston in the FA Cup last weekend with teenage forward Idah netting a hat-trick in just his second senior start.

Farke is backing his youngsters ahead of facing United and admits Idah could play a starring role this weekend.

"I never had any problem to play younger players at this club," he said. "Jamal Lewis made his debut in a really important game for us on Boxing Day (Birmingham), Max Aarons, I can also remember made his debut when we played Ipswich.

"That is a pretty important game for anyone from Norwich.

"So no problem with that but they have to be ready. Adam showed he had the quality to play on a good level. He deserved his moment in the spotlight but as I always say there can be no gifts.

"We have a bit more competition now on the training pitch. We are three games unbeaten and that helps with the momentum and the mood of the group, although we know going to Manchester United is a huge task.

"The aim has to be to try and extend that run."
