Norwich have confirmed they are investigating video footage which appears to show the goalkeeper John Ruddy in a scuffle while on a night out.
Ruddy, who won his one England cap in 2012, was captured in a heated argument with another man in Norwich’s Tombland district in the early hours of Sunday morning.
In a video obtained by The Sun, the 29-year-old has to be restrained and a woman shouting “he’s not worth it” is clearly audible.
“Ruddy got into the taxi and was sitting next to the door still having a discussion with the guy and the next thing Ruddy has uppercutted him, sent him on the floor,” said an eyewitness quoted by the newspaper.
“Ruddy then got out the cab, on top of him, thrown a few punches and then the guy got up, his face covered in blood.
“You just can’t behave like that. He has been dropped from the team in the last few weeks and maybe he’s just not happy.”
Norwich have confirmed they are investigating the incident, although Norfolk Police said there had been no reports of assault in the area.
“If anyone has any information regarding any incident then please contact Norfolk Police on 101,” a spokeswoman told the BBC.
Ruddy, who moved to Carrow Road in 2010, has recently lost his place to Declan Rudd and was on the bench for the 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday.
