Norwich goal machine Pukki can't top former Newcastle United striker's goal record

Teemu Pukki has taken the Premier League by storm, with the Norwich City striker bagging six goals in his first five appearances in the top flight.

Newcastle United fans know only too well just how good the Finnish frontman is, after he hit an impressive hat-trick in the Canaries' 3-1 win over the Magpies in just the second game of the season.

After scoring on the opening day at Anfield, Pukki made it six from five when scoring Norwich's third in their remarkable 3-2 win over Manchester City this weekend.

Add in two goals for his country, one apiece against Greece in Italy during the international break, and it's safe to say the 29-year-old is in the form of his life.

But he fell short of emulating two men when it comes to goalscoring records - and former Newcastle United striker Mick Quinn was only too pleased to point it out.

For the ex-Magpie and ChronicleLive columnist jointly holds the record of most number of goals scored in the first five Premier League appearances with an incredible EIGHT goals.

And the goal machine took to social media last night to point it out, quipping: "They still can't catch me" next to a screengrab of the leading goalscorers.

Quinn's amazing run came with Coventry City in the 1992-93 season, following his St James' Park exit.

The person he's tied with? None other than Man City goal legend Sergio Aguero, who has hit an amazing seven goals already this term.

Back in 2011-12, his first season in the top flight, Aguero smashed eight goals in his first five appearances.

Don't worry Mick, you record is safe for another year.
