Norwich City will once again be a Premier League side next season after sealing promotion from the Championship.

The Canaries needed just a point from their game against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday evening, confirming a sensational return to the English top flight in front of their own fans at Carrow Road.

In front of the rocking home crowd, Marco Stiepermann opened the scoring for the Canaries after 13 minutes before Mario Vrancic doubled his side's lead with a sublime effort from range.

Lewis Travis pulled one back for Blackburn but the hosts remained in total control for the remainder of the contest.

Daniel Farke's side were not considered among the favourites for automatic promotion with a sluggish start to the season further writing off those hopes.

But aided by Teemu Pukki’s 28 league goals they have returned to the Premier League following relegation in 2016.

Sheffield United can also return to the top flight for the first time since 2007 if they better third place Leeds' result against Aston Villa.

The Blades eased to a 2-0 win over already-relegated Ipswich on Saturday evening.

They will have to wait to learn if they too will be promoted this weekend however with Marcelo Bielsa's side not in action until Sunday.
