Norwich City star Kenny McLean craving more moments of magic with Scotland

Kenny McLean still savours that moment his famous spot-kick in Serbia helped Scotland reach the Euros.

Now he's desperate get the buzz again by taking us to another major tournament.

The Norwich City midfielder could be in line for his first start since Slovakia in November when Faroe Islands visit Hampden tonight, if boss Steve Clarke decides to ring the changes.

But either way the Cambuslang star is desperate to play his part to help us qualify for the main events on a regular basis.

He said: "Everybody wants the same outcome now that we've had that success.

"The Euros is there for us but now we are in another competition and we want that success again.

"The feeling after that Serbia game is what everybody wants as much as they can in their career.

"For some people it might not come along, but we know we've got the squad that we can do it more often.

"It's up to us as a team and a group to really push this nation on and keep that going.

"It's not always easy coming away for a week here and there every so often, but I think when you see the progression that is happening, it gives you confidence that we are only getting better.

"We know the future is good for us, it's just about performing more and consistency is a big thing for us."

McLean may have fired home the spot-kick in the shootout that paved the way for David Marshall's heroics in Serbia in November, but he knows he can't rely on that to get him into the squad for the this summer's tournament, which will feature at least two games at Hampden.

So having made two substitute appearances in the draws with Austria and Israel this past week, he's targeting a start and catching the eye of his manager.

"Every opportunity I get I want to do as much as I can," he said.

"If I get the opportunity I'll work as hard as I can to take it.

"That's not to say if I play well I'll be going to the Euros because I know the quality that's there in the position in front of me.

"The last couple of games, the boys have been excellent in there. They are performing at a very high level for their clubs so everyone is pushing themselves and pushing each other on.

"It's disappointing not to be starting games, but you need to look at it and say there is quality there so it's down to me.

"Of course, you are always trying to impress because of what's there and the next squad will be the Euros.

"The manager has obviously got decisions to make and there is plenty quality [players] that aren't here right now that I'm sure are in the manager's mind, so it's down to us to impress the manager.

"If I get my chance , hopefully I can take it."
