Norwich City confirmed promotion back to the Championship with three games to spare thanks to a 1-0 victory at Charlton. Meanwhile, after a turbulent season off the pitch, Notts County secured promotion from League Two with a comfortable win over Morecombe, while Rochdale finally secured their passage out of the bottom tier for the first time in 41 years.
Norwich didn't expect to be promoted this weekend but defeat for second placed Leeds at Gillingham and the failure of the chasing pack to win meant victory was enough to guarantee their return to the Championship at the first attempt. Michael Nelson headed the only goal of the game in the first half but it was goalkeeper Fraser Foster who was the hero, making a string of saves to keep Norwich ahead.
Notts County secured a return to League One after six years, with a 4-1 win over Morecambe at Meadow Lane. Lee Hughes scored twice in an easy win, which never looked in question after County scored three goals in the first 20 minutes.
Rochdale will join County in League One, finding their way out of the basement for the first time since 1969. Chris O'Grady's first-half goal was enough for victory, ending fears that Dale would blow their promotion chance after they took only one point from their last four games
