Norwich City boss Daniel Farke gives his verdict on VAR drama amid Arsenal penalty incident

Norwich City manager Daniel Farke admitted that it was "tough to take" for his side as they drew 2-2 with Arsenal, despite leading twice at Carrow Road.

The Canaries twice led through goals from Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell, only for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to net two goals for the Gunners to earn Freddie Ljungberg's men a point in his first game as interim boss.

But Aubameyang's first goal came amid controversial circumstances, after his penalty was saved by Norwich goalkeeper Tim Krul, only for VAR to order a retake due to player encroachment, with the Gunners' striker scoring at the second time of asking.

And Farke admitted that he was not happy with the situation as the struggling Canaries missed the chance to claim a vital three points.

“It’s tough to take," the Norwich City boss said.

“I wasn’t happy with the quality of the decisions because the 50/50 decisions were given against us.”

“The penalty was the right decision but to redo it was strange. Arsenal’s players were even quicker to get inside the box.

“If I’m honest, Lacazette’s head was probably in the box for the retake and there was a second ball on the pitch for Arsenal’s second goal.”

Meanwhile, Farke said he was not happy with another aspect of the game, which he spoke about in his post-match press conference.

“I’m not sure why there were only a few minutes added before half time because the stoppage was seven minutes," he said.

“As long as human beings are working I will accept it but it was tough to take.”
