Norwich boss optimistic about Nottingham Forest's season as he makes surprise claims

Nottingham Forest are still a top-six contender who will soon put together an unbeaten run thanks to their impressive attack.

That’s the verdict of Norwich boss Daniel Farke as he prepares to host the Reds at Carrow Road on Wednesday night.

Forest are winless and goalless in their past five outings, a run that has left them just two points and one place above the Championship relegation zone, but Farke believes that is a false position for Chris Hughton’s men, who he counts among the best attacking sides in the division despite only Derby scoring fewer goals this term.

“Every game is very difficult,” Farke said in his pre-match press conference. “I don't judge Nottingham Forest on their position now, I judge them by their potential. They are still challengers for the top six.

GARIBALDI RED: Should Forest really be concerned about the threat of relegation?

“They have an experienced coach and I think they are one of the best teams in the offence in the league. It is just a question of time until they start an unbeaten run. It is not if, more when.

“Since Chris (Hughton) took over they have had some unbelievably bad luck with injuries.

“You can see his handwriting because of their attacking play. The team is struggling a bit but they have quality and with his leadership and knowledge, it is just a question of time until they start a really good run.

“I have them as still a competitor for the top six. We know we have to be fully focused and fully switched on against them.”

A draw on Wednesday night will be enough to take Norwich back to the top of the Championship table, while defeat for Forest could see them drop into the bottom three, depending on how Derby and Wycombe fare at Brentford and Barnsley respectively.
