Norwegian legend's scarily accurate Manchester United manager prediction in 2012

Norwegian footballing legend Jan Åge Fjørtoft successfully predicted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would take the reigns at Old Trafford in 2019, back in 2012.

Solksjaer took over the club as caretaker manager in 2018 following the dismissal of Jose Mourinho and impressed the United hierarchy enough to see him offered the permanent position in March 2019, signing a three-year-deal.

An influx of former players are now moving into management too with Steven Gerrard taking charge of Rangers and Frank Lampard returning to Chelsea to replace Maurizio Sarri.

This trend was successfully predicted by Fjørtoft back in 2012 with a scary degree of accuracy.

There were a few inaccuracies in the timescale, however, the former Sheffield Wednesday forward predicted that Ferguson would in fact leave the club in 2016, before a big name would be in charge of United between 2017-2019.

In terms of managers, there are few bigger names than Mourinho who started the position in 2016 and was dismissed at the very end of 2018.

Amazingly, Fjørtoft backed Solskjaer to take charge of his former side in 2019 - the year he was offered the permanent job - despite being mocked in his Twitter replies.

One fan said: "I'll have a bet with you that he'll [Solksjaer] never be manager! He needs to prove himself outside of a mickey mouse league."

However, Fjørtoft was stuck by his forecast stating that Solskjaer still had "six years" to develop as a manager.

Naturally, given how accurate his prediction was, his Twitter feed has since been flooded with fans asking for lottery numbers.
