Norwegian bomb threat: Plane carrying 169 passengers returns to airport over security fears

Norwegian flight DY4321 turned back to Stockholm ( FlightRadar24 )

A Norwegian flight to Nice has turned back to Stockholm following a bomb threat.

Carrying 169 passengers, flight DY4321 from Arlanda returned as a result of a threat made against the airline.

Norwegian said in a statement: “For safety reasons, the aircraft returned to Arlanda.

“We note that there is a great deal of demand with many questions from the media. This is now a police case, so further questions need to be addressed to them.

“Norway’s foremost priority is the safety of our passengers and employees.”

A police spokeswoman confirmed that officers were at Arlanda following a bomb threat but gave no further details.

The flight departed Stockholm at 10.09am and was due to arrive in Nice, France at 12.45pm. However, the flight path can be seen on tracking website FlightRadar24 – the aircraft only got as far as Lindshammer in southern Sweden before curving back on itself.

The Naval and Air Rescue Center raised the alarm of a potential bomb threat at 10.39, prompting the pilot to turn back.

The Boeing 737 plane has landed at Arlanda airport and was met by emergency service crews.
