Norway 2-1 England: Lionesses fall to defeat despite Georgia Stanway stunner

Norway scored a late winner as England surrendered a lead to fall to a friendly defeat in Bergen.

Manchester City forward Georgia Stanway opened the scoring after just 10 minutes in stunning fashion, crashing her effort off the underside of the bar and in from 25 yards out.

That lead was wiped out eight minutes into the second-half however when Frida Maanum headed home.

Some poor defending allowed Barcelona's Graham Hansen to break clear with just a minute of the match remaining, smartly sidestepping Steph Houghton before finishing in style.

Phil Neville’s side cruised to a 3-0 win over tonight’s opposition in the quarter-finals of this summer’s World Cup – a tournament which ended with semi-final heartbreak after defeat to eventual champions United States.

England drew 3-3 with Belgium at the weekend in their first game since the competition in France.
