Norway
Orjan Håskjold Nyland Norway’s hero against Brazil will have nightmares about his error that handed Bellingham his second goal. 3
Julian Ryerson Struggled to contain Gordon, but loves bombing forward. O’Reilly looked relieved when he was forced off. 8
Kristoffer Ajer The Brentford defender made some brilliant blocks and was almost the hero when he hit the bar. 7
Torbjørn Heggem Thought he had scored for a few minutes. England thought he got lucky for catching Bellingham. 6
David Møller Wolfe Dealt well with threat of Madueke and Saka for most of the game. Occasional forays forward before coming off. 6
Martin Ødegaard The heartbeat of Norway’s team grew in influence massively after a slow start. Gave everything for the cause. 8
Sander Berge Screened Norway’s back four tirelessly. No easy task in the sweltering conditions in Miami. 6
Patrick Berg Won ball off Kane for opening goal and a bustling presence throughout. Looks perfect for Premier League. 7
Alexander Sørloth Height always causes problems, although he dallied in the first half when a pass to Haaland was on. 6
Erling Haaland Opponents never feel safe when he’s around but looked totally devastated when he had to come off in extra time. 7
Andreas Schjelderup Only the Benfica winger will know if he actually meant his goal but they all count. 7
Substitutes: Fredrik Aursnes (for Ryerson, 60) Came to his side’s rescue with goalline clearance. 7; Oscar Bobb (for Sørloth, 68) Added dynamism down Norway’s right flank but could not make England pay in extra time. 6; Antonio Nusa (for Schjelderup, 68) Caused real problems when he came off the bench. 7; Marcus Pedersen (for Wolfe, 89) Struggled to contain Saka in extra time. 5; Leo Østigård (for Heggem, 90) Slow to react to the rebound when Bellingham scored England’s winner. 5; Jørgen Strand Larsen (for Haaland, 106) It’s not easy being Haaland’s understudy. Couldn’t make an impact. 5
England
Jordan Pickford Looked shaky on occasions. Not clear why he doesn’t try to catch the ball more often. 6
Ezri Konsa Adapted well to new role at right-back, even if Schjelderup’s goal came down his side. 7
John Stones Got away with a real howler in the first half having not started since opening game. Yet recovered extremely well. 7
Marc Guéhi Immense battle with his Manchester City teammate Haaland. Pulled off an epic block to stop a Nusa shot. 8
Nico O’Reilly Outstanding tackle to stop Bobb in full flow. Will have been disappointed to have been taken off. 7
Elliot Anderson Surging run set up first goal and dominated central midfield. Looks worth every penny Manchester City paid for him. 9
Declan Rice Clearly suffering from the effects of injury and illness. Not his usual bustling presence and set-piece delivery was poor. 5
Noni Madueke Failed to capitalise on early opportunities, even if he showed that he can use his right foot occasionally. 4
Jude Bellingham Is there anything he can’t do? Unbelievable composure for first goal and pure instinct for second. 9
Anthony Gordon A standout performance on the left flank and provided another excellent assist for Bellingham. 8
Harry Kane Hardly had a sight of goal but the captain still played his part all over the pitch. 7
Substitutes: Eberechi Eze (for Rice, ht) Inches away from the winner in normal time, could have done more 6; Bukayo Saka (for Madueke, ht) Created England’s best chance in second half and far more effective than his Arsenal teammate 8; Reece James (for Gordon, 71) Came on in midfield before moving to right-back. Needs more game time but can be a real asset 6; Djed Spence (for O’Reilly, 86) Made a really positive impact and felt hard done by to see penalty overturned 7; Morgan Rogers (for Konsa, 89) Added some real thrust and it was from his shot that Bellingham pounced in extra time 8; Dan Burn (for Bellingham, 111) His cameos off the bench are becoming the stuff of legend. Towering in the second half of extra time 7.
