Northwestern men's basketball to play Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse

May 03--Northwestern made it official Tuesday: There will be a fight between 'Cats and 'Dogs on Nov. 16 in Indianapolis.

The Wildcats, which bill themselves "Chicago's Big Ten Team," will head one state over to play in "Indiana's Basketball Cathedral" to face the Butler Bulldogs at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games.

The second annual series between Big Ten and Big East teams also will feature matchups such as national champion Villanova at Purdue (Nov. 14) and Rutgers at DePaul (Nov. 17).

The games are named after Big East founder Dave Gavitt.

Northwestern is 16-10 all time against Butler. The teams haven't played each other since Dec. 6, 2014, a 65-56 victory for the Bulldogs.

The Wildcats tied a program record with 20 victories last season, to go with 12 defeats. Butler was 22-11 last year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Game times for the games will be announced at a later date.
