WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. _ Purdue was 12-for-23 from behind the 3-point line and Caleb Swanigan scored 24 points to go with 16 rebounds in the Boilermakers' 80-59 victory against Northwestern on Wednesday.
No. 23 Purdue was 9-for-14 from 3 in the first half and No. 25 Northwestern missed its first 10 attempts from there.
The Wildcats were without leading scorer Scottie Lindsey (illness) and Nathan Taphorn (ankle injury) as they attempted to tie the school record for consecutive victories with seven.
Purdue used 12-0 and 8-0 runs in the first half to put away the Wildcats (18-5, 7-3).
Bryant McIntosh led the Wildcats (18-5, 7-3) with 22 points and four assists. Freshman Isiah Brown had 11 points for Northwestern, which plays at home against Illinois on Tuesday.
