Northumbria Police appeal for witnesses to Jarrow 'hit and run'

A cyclist was left with two broken wrists following a hit and run in Jarrow.

The man, who was in his 40s, was taken to hospital following the collision with a motorbike in Ferry Street yesterday afternoon (Sunday, June 13).

Police are now appealing for witnesses after the rider of the motorbike fled the area following the incident.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Shortly after 1.30pm yesterday (Sun) we received a report of a collision involving the rider of an off-road motorcycle and a cyclist on Ferry Street, Jarrow.

“It was reported that the rider of an off-road motorcycle had been in collision with a male pedestrian in his 40s who was on a pedal cycle.

“The cyclist suffered two fractured wrists and was taken to hospital as a result.

“Officers attended but the rider of the motorcycle had already left the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to trace those involved.“
