Northumberland shepherdess shows how she trains world's most expensive sheepdogs in TV show

A Northumberland farmer who trained one of the world's most expensive sheepdogs will share some of her secrets in a new Channel 5 show.

Record-breaking Rothbury shepherdess Emma Gray appears on our screens on Friday evening, putting her world-beating sheepdogs through their paces.

Emma, of Fallowlees Farm in Harwood Forest, near Rothbury, Northumberland, sold her two-and-a-half year-old border collie Megan for £18,900 at the start of this year, beating her own record of nearly £15,000.

Although Emma's record was again broken this summer by a Welsh dog which fetched an auction price of over £19,000, her dogs are still recognised as something special.

Emma will appear tonight on Friday on the Farm, on Channel 5, when farmers Rob and Dave Nicholson visit her with a view to buying a dog themselves.

She credits the remote Northumberland location for some of her success, saying: “Living out here, cut off from everything makes it a great environment for training sheepdogs."

Leeds-based Daisybeck Studios filmed with Emma and the farmers for the six-episode show, which is hosted by Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson and launches this Friday.

Rob, from Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorkshire, said: “It was great to visit Emma and see how she works with her dogs, she is great.

“When looking for a new dog we wanted to go to the best and so made the journey."

Friday on the Farm airs on Friday, October 9 at 9pm on Channel 5.
