Northumberland College admits a 'number of students affected' amid claims coursework went unmarked

Bosses at Northumberland College admit a 'small number of students' were affected, as students claim their coursework went unmarked.

One student of health and social care claimed she "never received" the results for her diploma course.

She said fellow students were put at risk of not meeting their university offers due to not receiving the UCAS points they had expected from the course.

And posting on the college's Facebook page, she wrote: "Why? Because our hard work over the past 2 years was never sent off by the college to be marked and graded."

ChronicleLive asked officials at the college, which has recently , for clarification as to what had happened with the coursework.

Nigel Harrett, principal of Northumberland College, said: “I have been made aware of an issue affecting a small number of our students.

"The new leadership team and I are already working with relevant departments across the college to ensure that students and their success and future progression is central to everything we do.

"I would encourage students with any issues to contact the college directly so I can address their individual concerns."

It is not known whether the results of any other students were affected.
