Northside resident left furious after disgusting 'act of vandalism' during the night in Finglas

A local resident has blasted the immaturity of the person or people responsible for what he claims to be an 'act of vandalism' in North Dublin.

Finglas resident, Steven Blaney described his horror of finding that pieces of rubbish were set on fire on Church Street outside two local takeaways.

From what he described, the situation could have been much worse as there was cooking oil drums perched alongside the rubbish.

He told Dublin Live: "The takeaway 'Brooklyn Food' and the Chinese and Thai place 'Mings' next door had left rubbish and some cooking oil drums outside for collection.

"It appears like they were moved against the door and set alight and turned into a blaze. There is apartments above the shops, so it could have gone from playful messing in someone's mind to a potentially devastating issue."

Stephen added that the immature act of vandalism could have 'cost people's lives'.

He said that although Finglas is a lovely place to live and grow up in, he has saw a rise in anti-social behaviour of late.

"The area overall is fantastic and I've grown up in Finglas, I'm 33 now. I have to say there does seem to be an element of bad behaviour creeping back in lately though."

"The Tidy Town Committee are doing great work as most days I walk through the village at 6am and encounter massive amounts of rubbish on the street."

Dublin Live has contacted both food companies to see if there has been any significant damage to the inside of their shops.
