Northern Syria power gap: Russia looks to fill void in region

After the withdrawal of US troops from northern Syria last month, Russia filled the void and firmed up its position as a powerbroker in the region.

Moscow is running joint patrols to separate warring factions and is working in tandem with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

But, analysts stress, Russia may not know what their end game is in the Middle East.
