Northern is recruiting for new train drivers and the salary is an impressive one, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
Those with no previous experience on the railway are encouraged to apply as full training is given as part of the company's Driver Training Programme.
An ad posted on Facebook by Northern reads: "As a train driver it’s your responsibility to ensure our customers reach their destination in a safe manner and on time.
"Our drivers work hard to maintain high levels of route and train knowledge to ensure that safety is kept at the forefront of our operations.
"Although most of the time you will be working on your own in the driver’s cab, you will need to be able to communicate effectively with others in the wider team, including your conductor, dispatch and control colleagues, and of course our customers."
The programme is split into different periods of training with the first 16 weeks a blend of theory and practical - which includes modules on rules and regulations, route learning, fire safety, traction training and track safety, followed by ongoing training and assessments at Northern's Leeds or Manchester training academies.
This is then followed by time spent under guidance by a driver instructor.
The salary for the training programme starts at £23,326.
Once this is complete, it rises to £38,626 in year one, £42,634 in year two and £53,319 in year three.
