The Northern Lights could be making a rare appearance in Scotland's skies, as a red alert has been issued for this evening.
AuroraWatchUK has said that a fantastic display of the natural phenomenon will be "highly likely" above Scotland - and other parts of the UK - tonight.
The red alert is AuroraWatchUK's highest signal, so keen stargazers should be turn their eyes upwards for a chance to see the Aurora Borealis.
September-March is the peak time to spot the Northern Lights in Scotland, but due to poor weather conditions, it often isn't possible. Unfortunately, this may be the case again, as clouds are currently covering much of Scotland's skies.
