Northern Ireland weekend weather forecast predicts the coast will get the best sunshine

If you want to see the best of the weather this weekend the Met Office has predicted that the coast will have it.

According to the forecast for Saturday it will be bright with some sunny spells - and while it will be generally dry, a few well scattered light showers should also be expected.

The weather forecast for May 22, also suggests that it will feel rather cool with the north-westerly winds.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "It will be bright with some sunny spells, the best of the sunshine around the coast and later in the day. Generally dry, but a few well scattered light showers developing. Feeling rather cool in the moderate northwest winds."

Tonight:

They added that there will be "a few showers around at first, but mainly dry and bright this evening and clear skies at times overnight. However, rain pushing into Fermanagh and the west around dawn".

The maximum temperature for Monday will be 13 °C and we are expected to have a low of 5 °C.

Sunrise was at 5.07am and it will set again at 9.34pm.

It is advisable to apply sunscreen, especially for kids, as UV levels will reach medium. Pollution is to remain low - as are the pollen levels.

As for Sunday, they predict more rain.

Sunday:

"Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will push east during the morning with brighter, more showery conditions developing in the afternoon. Windy around the Irish Sea coast. Maximum temperature 13 °C."

And Monday to Wednesday will bring more showers.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

"Bright with a scattering of showers on Monday. Bright with some sunny spells on Tuesday and Wednesday, perhaps the odd shower developing. Cool northwest winds, fresh at times."
