Northern Ireland weather: Yellow warning in place across parts of Northern Ireland on Christmas Day

A yellow weather warning for rain will be in place across parts of Northern Ireland from this afternoon.

Heavy rain across parts of Co Down and Co Armagh later on Christmas Day and into Boxing Day may lead to some localised flooding and travel disruption.

Around 25-40mm of rain is expected widely, but this may reach up to 60mm in some places.

The weather warning is in place from 3pm today, December 25, until 9am tomorrow, December 26.

Areas impacted by the warning include Newcastle, Newry, Warrenpoint, and Kilkeel.

The Met Office state that bus and train services could be affected with journey times taking longer, spray and flooding on roads is likely to make journey times longer, and flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely.

To report flooding problems on roads or burst water mains and blocked drains, contact the Northern Ireland flooding incident line on 0300 2000 100.
