Northern Ireland weather: Weekend forecast as sunny spells to continue

As we all returned to work after the Easter holidays, the weather remained mostly bright and sunny this week.

And looking towards the weekend, it looks like the sunny spells are set to continue.

For Thursday, the Met Office are predicting a dry and bright day with occasional sunny intervals, with the best of the higher temperatures in western counties of Northern Ireland.

The maximum temperature will reach 16C on Thursday.

It's expected that Friday will start off rather breezy but also mostly dry. The morning will see variable amounts of cloud, before turning increasingly sunny in the afternoon.

Belfast could reach highs of 15C on Friday to kick-start the weekend.

Saturday looks like it may be the worst day for weather this weekend, as it will be rather cloudy and breezy with the odd spot of rain moving in from the east throughout the day.

Temperatures will stay rather mild, however, with highs of 14C and a low of 8C.

The weekend will end on a high note as Sunday will bring variable cloud and sunny spells throughout the day.

Although the sun will be shining and temperatures will reach a high of 14C, it will still be rather breezy.

The Met Office's long-range weather forecast is currently predicting a dry start to next week, with high pressure likely to dominate in the north of the UK with plenty of dry weather.

Conditions are likely to become more settled and mainly dry across the whole of the UK as we move into early May. Temperatures are likely to be close to or above normal for this time of year.
