Northern Ireland weather: Weekend forecast a mixed bag with showers and dry spells expected

During this week, we've experienced a mix of thunderstorm warnings and higher temperatures, and it seems these mixed conditions are set to continue into the weekend throughout Northern Ireland.

Those who are planning outdoor activities may want to make sure they have their umbrellas handy, as the rain is set to pop up throughout the weekend.

Saturday, September 11, is set to start off with a cloudy morning with some patchy light rain developing.

According to the Met Office, the afternoon is set to bring "some brighter spells" but also some showers and west to northwest breezes.

The Met Office state: "Maximum temperature 21 °C and minimum temperature 13 °C."

For Sunday and into Monday, however, it's set to be "mainly dry, occasionally bright with light winds."

But temperatures are set to be lower than we've experienced in recent days, with a high of 16 °C for Sunday and 17 °C for Monday.

Early next week, the weather forecaster advises that we can expect "increasing risk of periods of rain developing, possibly turning heavy with chance of thunder" into Tuesday throughout Northern Ireland.

It seems that temperatures won't return to the 20's next week, with highs on Tuesday reaching 18 °C.
