A yellow weather warning has been issued for Northern Ireland as the recent spell of good weather is set to break on Sunday.

The Met Office has put the warning in place from midday on Sunday, August 14, through to early on Monday morning, August 15.

It covers all areas of Northern Ireland, with thunderstorms predicted as the sunnier weather gives way.

  • cancellations to train or bus services
  • flooding leading to difficult driving conditions
  • a slight chance of power cuts to homes and businesses

The record temperature for Northern Ireland sits at 31.3 degrees and was set in Castlederg in Co Tyrone in July 2021.

The Met Office has forecast that even with the weather breaking on Sunday, temperatures should remain quite high at about 24 degrees.
