Northern Ireland weather warning issued for snow and ice

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across Northern Ireland.

The warning was issued on Tuesday morning and will be valid between 8pm on Tuesday and 10am on Wednesday.

For tonight, the Met Office said: "Cold with showers of rain, sleet and snow spreading across the province on strengthening westerly winds. Showers focused across western coastal areas initially, before building in the east overnight."

They added that showers will spread across western coastal areas initially, before building in the east overnight.

And for Wednesday, the forecast reads: "Bitterly cold with fresh westerly winds bringing a mix of rain, sleet and snow showers, again with outbreaks more focused in the west."

TrafficWatch NI said the wintry showers and icy stretches would likely bring some travel disruption on Wednesday morning.
