Northern Ireland weather warning issued

A weather warning for ice has been issued for across Northern Ireland.

The latest status yellow warning comes into effect from this evening at 7pm and is valid until Tuesday, January 28 at 10am.

The Met Office is warning of "wintry showers and ice leading to some travel disruption" in Northern Ireland.

With temperatures set to dip to freezing tonight, commuters are being warned of ice on untreated roads and foothpaths.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "A spell of more persistent sleet or snow will spread to southern counties this evening spreading northeast to affect Antrim before clearing eastwards in early hours. Then turning icy. Minimum temperature 0°C.

"On Tuesday, bright or sunny intervals and occasional showers, these wintry over higher ground, most frequent in west and north, with few reaching County Down. Maximum temperature 6°C."
