Northern Ireland weather warning in place for next three days

The next few days aren't looking too great weather wise.

Sun shone across Northern Ireland on Saturday and Sunday morning, with highs of 21C forecast for the rest of the day.

But tomorrow marks the start of a three-day weather warning for thunderstorms.

The Met Office has issued the yellow weather warnings for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - but it will still be warm, they say.

What to expect

  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
  • There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Some hazy sunshine at times otherwise rather cloudy [on Monday]. Staying mainly dry but a few thundery showers may develop later. Warm and humid. Maximum temperature 22C.

(Met Office)

"Very warm and humid on Tuesday and Wednesday with the chance of the odd thunderstorm."

Thursday is to be dry and somewhat fresher, the Met Office said.
