Northern Ireland weather warning gives for weekend of wind, rain and ice

Northern Ireland is set for a rough weekend, with three separate weather warnings in place.

The Met Office has warned of disruptive weather from Friday morning, until midday on Sunday March 1.

Today, a yellow rain warning has advised that transport disruption and localised flooding may occur across Northern Ireland.

And on Saturday the Met Office issued a rain, wind and ice warning for most of the day.

They said: "Heavy rain may lead to transport disruption and local flooding. A spell of strong winds is expected to move northeast across a large swathe of the UK through Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

"And following clearance of heavy rain, a sudden drop in temperatures will make icy conditions quite likely.

"Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, meaning an increased likelihood of accidents, and also injuries from falls."

That yellow wind warning is set to carry through to Sunday with highs of 7C.
