Northern Ireland weather to see temperatures fall below freezing

Temperatures in Northern Ireland are expected to fall below freezing this evening, the Met Office has warned.

Salting for networks more likely to be affected by ice has been planned and road users have been advised to exercise caution when travelling.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "There will be a slight frost in sheltered rural sports this evening and tonight with minimum temperatures dropping to -2C.

"There is a risk of night frosts from Saturday through to Monday."

The Northern Ireland Weather and Flood Advisory Service also advised commuters to take care when on the roads.

Their Facebook page said: "Temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing with a risk of ice on roads this evening so road users are advised to exercise caution when travelling, particularly when driving on untreated roads."
